Hugo Boss shortlist gives painters the brush

In the NYTimes, Carol Vogel reports that this year�s finalists for the Guggenheim’s Hugo Boss Prize “include some of the hottest names around, and their work is heavily tipped toward conceptual and installation art. ‘A number of painters were nominated,’ said Joan Young, the associate curator of contemporary art at the Guggenheim. ‘But this is where the jury felt the innovative developments were.'” The finalists are Christoph Buchel, Patty Chang, Sam Durant, Emily Jacir, Joachim Koester, and Roman Signer.
