Contributed by Karlyn Benson / October is the most beautiful month to visit the Hudson Valley and surrounding regions. Don’t miss seeing the brilliant foliage and enjoying cooler days and clear blue skies. Special events this month include the O+ music and art festival in Kingston on October 10-12 and the WAAM Members Open Studio Tour October 11-12. In Hudson, Farrell Brickhouse is giving an artist’s talk at Philip Douglas on October 11. Some notable exhibitions are opening in October, including Kathy Goodell at Private Public, Seeking Complexity at Bill Arning, Pam Poquette and Lawre Stone at Tanja Grunert, Alone with the Moon at RUTHANN, Douglas Navarra at 68 Prince Street, Claudia Shaldervan at Headstone, and Sharing the Space, a photography show at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts. It’s the last chance to see the following shows before they close: SHELF SHOW, the quirky and fun group exhibition at Monument, the annual group show at The Campus, Ashley Garrett at SEPTEMBER, Harold Stevenson at Art Omi, Christian Marclay at Hudson Hall, The Double Portrait at The Re Institute, S.C.A.P.E, an outdoor sculpture exhibition in Woodstock, AJ Liberto & Eric White at Roundabouts Now, Gail Rothschild at Standard Space, and Mary Judge and Katrina Majkut at Kenise Barnes Fine Art. Finally, if you are looking for a Halloween adventure don’t miss The Wassaic Project’s Haunted Mill on September 24-26 and the Monster’s Ball on October 25.
