Hudson Valley Selected Gallery Guide: February, 2023

Carrie Haddad Gallery: Joy Taylor, Boo-K 5, 2022, acrylic on canvas, 60 x 52 inches

Is February the new March? Take a look at the number of interesting shows opening in the Hudson Valley this month and you’ll see what I mean. We got a note that Helen Toomer, the founder of the ever-expanding Upstate Art Weekend, has taken a position as Director of PHOTOFAIRS New York, a new photo-centric art fair that opens at the Javitz Center in September. We wish her all the best. And: Don’t forget Valentine’s Day, which is on a Tuesday this year, and that February is Black History Month. The gift of art could be the perfect complement to a romantic (but ephemeral) meal or an inspiring lecture.

As always, huge thanks to Sophy Johnston for compiling the guide, which is loosely organized by neighborhood. NOTE: If you have a show that you would like to be considered for inclusion to the next selected guide, please send a note to upstateartguide.twocoatsofpaint@gmail.com.
