Contributed by Jacob Cartwright / This is Roy Dowell’s fourth solo exhibition at Miles McEnery Gallery since 2020, so it’s not arriving out of the blue. That said, while all his previous shows have been satisfying, this one strikes me as particularly successful, leaving a lasting impression. It’s the tumbled stone dropped into the pocket: pleasing to turn over and reexamine days and weeks later.
